Plant of the Month – November – White Nancy

November 11, 2016 by James Cooper

This is our plant of the month for November – the Lamium maculatum or ‘White Nancy’.  November is a tough month for garden lovers, the leaves are falling and the last of the autumn flowers are fading.

Planting tips

This little evergreen groundcover plant shines a light in the shadiest parts of the garden and brings hope.  Trim it gently to maintain a denser shape and help it to send out rooting stems.

We like to team it with Ophiopogon planiscapus, a fantastic small black grasslike plant and maybe some Liriope muscari.  A great tapestry of planting for a shady part of the garden, near to the house so they can be enjoyed up close.
