Plant of the Month – March – Hellebore

February 27, 2016 by James Cooper

We love interesting plant combinations and are always looking for better ways to show plants off.  This month we have chosen a ‘trio of plants’ which look smart all year round. A great plant association of Hellebore, Box and Phormium.

In a shadier corner of our garden we have two structural plants (Phormium ‘Bronze Baby’ and clipped Box) alongside helleborus x hybridus ‘Red Lady’ – an association we can admire from our sittingroom window.

Planting tips

Hellebores are quite straightforward to look after. Just remember to remove last year’s leaves before the flowers emerge. This will help to prevent unsightly black spot from spreading onto the new leaves.
